Sally Hampson is an experienced artist who has travelled widely and worked with local artisans in Egypt, Ethiopia, Morocco, Kenya, India and China.
Her work focuses on collections, traditions of object display and display making; she refers to this as ‘storytelling through objects’, and she has worked within museum contexts including the Natural History Museum, the Horniman Museum, the Pitt Rivers Museum, and the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew.
She will combine this rich and diverse experience in supporting participants to reflect on their own cultural background. Workshop sessions will encourage them to explore through making, either individually or collectively, taking them on a journey, leading them to one specific object that they feel tells their personal story. This will then be displayed alongside the many objects on loan to form this diverse temporary collection.
During the Facing East project the Miller’s Office will gradually be transformed into a museum/treasure house for Bromley by Bow.
